Sanctuary Lip Balm

I am a huge fan of Sanctuary Spa products so my mum got me a set for Christmas and I picked up a few sets in the Boots sale.

I love the ‘classic’ Sanctuary smell – it is so distinctive and instantly recognisable!

I got this lip balm in one of the sets. I have to admit that I always forget to carry lip balm so often end up with chapped dry lips and cold sores. Not good! After my most recent dry skin outbreak I remembered I had this lip balm and have been carrying it with me since!

I love the texture of it. It’s smooth and silky and just feels like it would be great at hydrating dry lips! It has a very subtle scent and my lips tingle a little when I apply this, which I quite like.

It has definitely earned a place in my daily make up routine!

You can buy this lip balm from Sanctuary’s website. It is £4.19.

What lip balms would you recommend for sore dry lips?

Soap & Glory Hand Food

Hello lovelies.
I am definitely a bit late jumping on to the Soap & Glory bandwagon only now! I received my first two Soap & Glory products for Christmas from a very dear friend, one of which was Hand Food. I suffer from quite dry hands as I never wear gloves when I’m cleaning (I’m a bit OCD) and the chemicals have wreaked havoc with my skin, so I was grateful to receive this as I’ve heard amazing things about the brand in general.

Image

First of all, I love the packaging. Bright without being tacky and definitely eye catching. I also love how the Soap & Glory folks use catchy quirky names for all of their products!

Image
Hand Food is “non-greasy” and “hydrating” with “shea butter, macadamia oil & marshmallow.” It has a pleasant subtle scent which is great as I hate overly fragrant skin products. The texture is lovely, very light and blends easily. I type alot at work so can’t really afford to be sitting waiting for hand cream to soak in! It does feel a little greasy for a while after application which does bother me slightly, and I’m not sure it is making a great difference in softening and caring for my hands.
I like the product and overall would score it 3.5 out of 5, however I do prefer the L’Occitane hand creams and will be sticking with them in future.

This is the one I least like out of the three Soap & Glory products I now own. I’ll review the others in due course!

Have you tried this hand cream?

I love Poundland

I have been on the hunt for Stila products in Poundland since I read that they were now stocking the range, so you can imagine my delight when I picked some up yesterday!

I managed to grab the SPF 30 tinted moisturiser in warm (dark 02):

I also got three of the foundation powder refills just in case they run out as they are a nice light colour for my ghostly pale skin!

The dark tinted moisturiser is for my sister who can carry off a darker colour, and it really isn’t too dark once applied.

I also went home with a mini beauty set consisting of Russian doll tweezers, nail files and a compact mirror (obsessed with Russian dolls so had to buy it!), Schwartzkopt Gliss shampoo (which I think is normally around two or three quid), lots of chocolate (of course), a set of make up brushes that look really lovely, four blade razors, and a Dora the Explorer book for my little niece. Very impressed with my haul yesterday! Might call in again today to a different store!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes mascara review & boot sale purchase!

I received the new Rimmel Scandal Eyes mascara in the post the other day from Glamour magazine. It was a competition prize I wasn’t expecting so was happy to receive it as I had wanted to try it!

Image

I don’t really like the bright orange packaging but this is good value at £6.99 for 12ml from Boots.

Image

The brush is nice and thick but I tend to prefer thinner brushes as they give an overall more natural effect.

I’ve been using this for the past couple of days and sadly am not overly impressed. The mascara goes on well and makes my eyelashes look long and curly and nicely separated:

However, after a few hours, the mascara has completely worn off and my eyelashes are back to how they were before I applied it! So unfortunately this product isn’t much good for me as I can’t keep applying throughout the day. I love mascaras that are long lasting, such as the Body Shop Big & Curvy mascara, which is the best I’ve used to date, even better than Benefit Bad Gal!

You can head over to the product page on the Boots site and read the reviews. Scandal Eyes mascara has only scored 3 stars out of 5 from customer reviews. I would score it 2.5 out of 5 as it is mediocre but I will continue using it, although will probably layer it with another mascara.

Today I am wearing this gorgeous Lipsy blouse:

It only cost £3 from the car boot sale I went to on Sunday!
